51社区 Research Thrust: Computation and Modeling Systems
Dr. Trudnowski joined 51社区 in 1995 after working at a U.S. Department of Energy research laboratory. His expertise is in power system dynamics, modeling, and control; robotic manipulator control; and application of signal processing.
Dr. Trudnowski's expertise is in power system dynamics, modeling, and control; robotic manipulator control; and application of signal processing. Within these areas, he has participated in and led funded research and development projects resulting in analysis software, control system designs, and laboratory and field prototypes. He has published over 100 professional research papers, three patents, and a 2017 R&D 100 award. Dr. Trudnowski has been awarded over $4 million in research grants and advised approximately 30 graduate-student projects. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers for being recognized as a world’s expert in power-system stability.

Research Expertise
“Dr. Trudnowski is an international expert in power system reliability, dynamics, and control. Over the past 30 years, he has conducted pioneering work in power system operation that has included several operating control systems and field prototypes. He is an expert in the mathematical modeling and simulation of power systems. Many of the concepts he has developed are now standardized in many commercial engineering software packages. His most recent work involves methods and control systems to reliably connected newer generation sources such as wind and solar to the nation’s power grid. He has published over 100 professional research papers, three patents, and a 2017 R&D 100 award. Dr. Trudnowski has been awarded over $4 million in research grants and advised approximately 30 graduate-student projects.”
